이 연구는 생물다양성 교육의 핵심내용을 생물다양성의 과학적 의미 이해를 바탕으로 한 생물다양성 가치 인식으로 보고 초등학교 교육과정 내에서 생물다양성 교육을 강화하고자 하는 목적을 위해서 수행되었다. 이를 위해 3-6학년을 대상으로 ‘2007 개정 교육과정’과 교과서, ‘2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 교과 교육과정’을 분석하여 생물다양성 교육의 통합 가능성을 확인한 후, 분석 내용을 토대로 초등학교 생물다양성 교육을 위한 교재화 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 분석 준거에 의한 실제 생물다양성 교육의 가능성을 살펴 본 결과, 기존 교과의 성취기준 내에서 생물다양성 교육 목표를 달성할 수 있는 교과들은 과학, 도덕, 사회, 실과였다. 성취기준 내에서 생물다양성 교육 목표를 달성하기는 어려우나 생물다양성 교육 목표를 위해서 이용할 수 있는 교과는 국어, 미술, 음악, 체육인데 이들 교과는 생물다양성 교육을 위해서 간학문적으로 연계될 수 있다고 판단되었다. 분석 결과를 토대로 초등학교 생물다양성 교육에 맞는 내용과 자료를 선정하고 조직하여 교과와 연계한 분산적 접근이나 창의적 체험활동 시간을 이용한 범교과적인 접근이 가능한 교재를 개발하는데 기초자료를 제공하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to suggest the biodiversity value education in elementary school, in view of the importance of the biodiversity value awareness as the core content of biodiversity education. To achieve this aim, the authors analyzed the “2007 revised curriculum” and textbooks, as well as the “2009 revised curriculum training course” of Grades 3 to 6, when biodiversity education was integrated into the syllabus. Also, teaching materials were investigated to find out whether the value of biodiversity was included in elementary school education or not. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, the result of analysis showed that it was possible to integrate authentic biodiversity courses, which emphasize the value of biodiversity, into the current education system. The intrinsic value of biodiversity in the course materials entailed respecting life and loving nature. And a practical course stressed the importance of being mindful of the benefits of biodiversity. Secondly, a curriculum, comprising topics as diverse as Korean, art, music and physical education could help to achieve the goal of valuing biodiversity. These subjects can be used in biodiversity education as part of an interdisciplinary approach. For example, Korean texts extolling the value of biodiversity could be included in the materials for biodiversity education. Meanwhile, the music curriculum could involve composing and creating new songs about biodiversity and singing them, playing musical instruments and music appreciation. Physical education could also contribute to biodiversity education. The comprehensive education curriculum could include learning and playing in various settings, for example by giving students outdoor learning and playtime.
