Abstract
This study analyzed relationships affecting the in-class math attitude of middle school third graders in Gyoung-gi province using structural equation modeling (SEM). More specifically, the study examined how structural relationships could vary according to school educational environments. SEM analysis indicated that a significant difference was observed in the latent means of student-centered math class between the two groups. Moreover, a comparison of path coefficients between the two groups found the impact of pupils’ second grade in-class math attitude on implicit theories of intelligence at innovation schools was smaller than that at regular schools, and third graders’ in-class math attitude at innovation schools was higher than that at regular schools. Besides, these findings, results also showed that the impact of student-centered math classes on math self-efficacy was higher at innovation schools.
