A Study on the Autoethnography on the Practice of Expressive Activities Class Experienced by a Male Physical Education Teacher

이 연구는 ‘자문화기술지(autoethnography)’ 방법을 기반으로 체육 남교사가 경험하고 노력한 표현활동 수업 실천 과정을 살펴보면서 그 교육적 가치와 의미를 분석하고 재정립하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구자는 14년 동안의 표현활동 수업 경험의 자서전적 의미 전달을 위해 표현활동 수업 설계 틀에 따라 자료를 수집·분석하고 기술하였다. 연구자는 설명과 시범 시 동기부여를 위한 다양한 영상 자료를 준비하고, 표현활동 전문성 함양을 위한 노력의 모습들로 학생들과의 신뢰를 쌓고자 노력하였다. 학생은 무작위 추출 방식으로 모둠을 정한 뒤 모둠별 주제와 음악을 선택한다. 연습 시 연구자는 무기력한 학생과 ‘무임승차’ 학생을 방지하기 위해 학생과 모둠의 역할과 책임감을 부여한 활동지를 개발·활용하였다. 학생은 자신이 작성한 내용을 근거로 설명과 시범을 보이고 각 모둠은 모둠원의 동작 중 2-3개를 의무적으로 포함한 최종 활동지를 구성하고 모든 학생은 가르치고 배우는 연습을 실시한다. 학생은 중간·최종 발표를 통해 심미 표현에 대한 비교 ·분석 과정을 거치고 최종 감상문을 작성하게 된다. 연구자는 학생과 모둠별 활동 흔적이 담긴 활동지와 활동 영상을 근거로 과정중심 평가를 실시하고, 진도 점검표를 활용한 자기평가와 모둠별 내·외 동료평가를 실시하여 평가의 공정성을 확보해 나갔다. 연구자는 남교사로서 고민하고 실천했던 표현활동 수업 경험에 대한 반성과 성찰의 과정을 독자들과 함께 공유하고 싶었으며 이를 통해 표현활동 수업의 교육적 가치와 의미에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze and re-establish the educational value and meanings by examining the process of practicing the expressive activities class experienced and by a male physical education teacher based on the ‘autoethnography’. To deliver the autobiographical meanings of such experiences in the expressive activities class for 14 years, the researcher collected, analyzed, and described data in accordance with the expressive activities class design frame. The researcher prepared various video materials for motivation in case when providing explanations and demonstrations, and also made efforts to build up trust with students with the looks of putting efforts for cultivating the expertise in expressive activities. After the students select their groups in the random extraction method, they select the theme and music in each group. To prevent lethargic students and ‘free-ride’ students in the practice, the researcher developed/utilized the activity sheet giving the roles and responsibility to students and groups. The students provide the explanation and demonstration based on the contents they have created; each group composes the final activity sheet compulsorily including 2-3 movements of group members’ movements; and all the students practice to teach and learn. The students go through the comparative analysis process on aesthetic expressions through the mid/final presentations, and then write the final appreciation report. The researcher secured the fairness of assessment by implementing the process-centered assessment based on the activity sheets and activity videos containing the activity traces of each student and group, and also implementing the self-assessment using the progress checklist and the peer assessment inside/outside of each group. The researcher aimed to share with the readers the process of self-reflection and introspection on the expressive activities class that was considered and practiced as a male teacher, and also to provide the implications regarding the educational value and meanings of expressive activities class.
