초상화법으로 탐구한 중학교 교사의 정체성 및 비전에 관한 인물 사례

이 연구의 목적은 교사로서 살아가는 과정에서 나타나는 주관적 느낌을 생생한 목소리를 통하여 충분히 탐구함으로써 교사 개인의 내적 성장과 관련된 교직의 정체성에 대한 통합적 이해를 도모하는 것이다. 5년의 교직경력을 가진 중학교 기술교사 1명을 대상으로 2011년 10월부터 11월 사이에 심층 면담을 3회 실시하였으며 생생한 단락을 포착하여 의미를 정교하게 부각함으로써 연구 주제와 관련된 주요한 측면들을 해석하였다. 발령초기에 단순한 직업인으로서 교단에 섰던 연구참여자가 교사로서의 자신을 되돌아보면서 어릴 적 자신의 꿈과 현재 교사로서의 삶에 대한 괴리를 포착하고 ‘인성과 꿈’의 중요성을 절감하여, 학생들에게 하고 싶은 것을 이룰 수 있도록 도움을 주고자 노력하는 교사의 총체적인 모습을 다루었다. 인물 사례 연구 방법에 터하여 중학교 기술교사의 내적 성장에 관한 주요 측면을 부각함으로써 교사다운 교사로서 겪는 보람과 정체성 및 미래에 관한 비전 형성에 대한 묘사를 하였다.
Abstract
This paper aims at attaining a wholistic understanding of a middle school teacher's fulfillments and difficulties associated with his identity and inner growth experiences. The single technology teacher was selected and three in-depth interviews were arranged between Oct and Nov in 2011. Several aspects such as motivation to become a teacher, teaching experiences as novice teacher, personal growth, difficulties and happy moments as a teacher were explored and mapped into a timeline in order to grasp his major strands. The portrait describes that he, having 5 year teaching experiences, got affected by reading several biographic books during army service period and reflected his personal background to see how he pursued his own dream and vision. Awakening that his original dream was regarded as playing music and trying to find out ways of his students to make their dreams true, he tried to work hard to prepare his own personal development plan as part of professional development. Feeling as a genuine teacher in such a way, he revealed his fulfillments, identity and future vision in this portrait.
