시장집중도가 노동소득분배율에 미치는 영향 분석: 제조업 패널자료를 중심으로

본 연구에서는 시장집중도와 노동소득분배율 사이의 관계에 대한 심층적 분석을 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 이론적으로는 시장점유율이 각기 다른 이질적 기업들로 구성된 산업을 가정하고 시장집중도 지수와 노동소득분배율 간의 관계를 분석하였으며, 실증적으로는 국내 제조업 부문의 산업별 자료를 이용한 패널회귀분석 모형을 통해 두 변수 사이의 관계를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 이론적 측면에서 이질적 기업으로 구성된 불완전경쟁 생산물시장을 고려할 경우 시장집중도 상승(하락)은 노동소득분배율을 하락(상승)시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 2000년~2009년 동안 우리나라 제조업 부문의 세세분류 산업 등을 대상으로 패널분석을 시행한 결과 시장집중도 상승(하락)이 노동소득분배율을 하락(상승)시키는 효과가 뚜렷한 것으로 나타나 이론모형으로부터 도출된 결론을 뒷받침해 주었다. 본 연구는 노동소득분배율의 결정요인으로서 지금껏 국내에서 소홀히 여겨져 온 생산물시장의 불완전경쟁적 시장구조를 집중적으로 탐구했다는 데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to closely examine relationship between market concentration and labor income share. To assess market concentration effects on labor income share, this paper assumes imperfectly competitive markets consisting of heterogeneous firms based on theoretical models and estimates panel data models for the Korean manufacturing industries. The theoretical model suggests that an increase (a decrease) in firms’ market power induces a decrease (an increase) in labor income share in the imperfectly competitive product markets. The empirical analysis using the panel data also finds the relationship between the factors inversely related. It is meaningful in the sense that this study explored the role of imperfect competition in the product markets that has not been recognized as an important determinant of labor income share.It is meaningful in the way that this study takes note of imperfect competition market structure which has been disregarded as the determinant of the labor income share.
