Abstract

Reconceptualization of Special Education and Clarifying its Specialness+P]VO ,WVO aW]VO3WZMI 6I\QWVIT =VQ^MZ[Q\a WN -L]KI\QWV The purpose of this study is reconceptualizing the concept of special education andclarifying the specialness of that. To achieve this purpose, this study is to clarify thespecialness of special education as instructional place, contents and methods whichhas done through reconceptualization of special education. The results from thisstudy appeared as following;First, the traditional special education transmitted instructions from outside ofclassroom of general education, but reconceptualized special education has special-ness emphasizing supports and services with the places where transmit instructionsinside of classroom of general education for students with special needs. Second, the traditional special education emphasized on offering educationallyappropriate experiences for students who has unique needs, but reconceptualizedspecial education required on educational outcomes through instructional contentsequal to students without disabilities for students with special needs.Third, the traditional special education has justified as specially designed instruc-tional method suitable for unique needs from students with disabilities, but reconcep-tualized special education also has specialness which should applicate special meth-ods about instruction through modification and accommodation of instruction in gen-eral classroom for students with special needs.
