여대생의 미래지향이 자살 관련 대인욕구 좌절에 미치는 영향과 성역할 태도의 조절효과

초록

본 연구는 여대생의 미래지향과 성역할 태도가 자살 관련 대인욕구 좌절에미치는 영향을 알아보고, 이 과정에서 성역할 태도의 조절효과를 탐색하였다. 이를 위하여 서울시 소재 4년제 남녀공학 12개 대학교에 재학 중인 여대생을대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 342명의 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여대생의 전반적인 미래지향은 직업과 진로, 결혼과 가족두 영역에서 대체로 높은 수준으로 나타났으며, 여대생의 성역할 태도는 대체로양성평등적 경향을 보였다. 또한 여대생의 자살 관련 대인욕구 좌절 수준은인식된 짐스러움, 좌절된 소속감 모두 대체로 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 자살 관련대인욕구 좌절과 하위 변인 중 좌절된 소속감의 경우는 여대생의 연령이 높아질수록, 가족의 월평균 소득이 적을수록, 직업과 진로, 결혼과 가족영역에 대하여미래지향적이지 않을수록, 성역할 태도가 전통적일수록 높아졌다. 다음으로인식된 짐스러움의 경우는 가족의 월평균 소득액이 적을수록, 직업과 진로영역에 대하여 미래지향적이지 않을수록, 성역할 태도가 전통적일수록, 결혼과 가족에 대하여 미래지향적이지 않을수록 높아졌다. 셋째, 여대생의 미래지향과 자살관련 대인욕구 좌절 간의 관계에서 성역할 태도는 유의미한 조절효과를 나타냈다. 여대생은 결혼과 가족에 대하여 미래지향적이지 않을수록, 자살 관련 대인욕구좌절과 하위 변인 중 좌절된 소속감 수준이 높아졌으며, 이러한 관련성들은여대생이 전통적인 성역할 태도를 가질수록 보다 현저하게 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 성 인지적 관점에서 20대 청년층 여성의 양성평등의식 제고 및 자살 관련 대인욕구 좌절의 완화를 위한 실천적 시사점을논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of future orientation on suicide related frustration of interpersonal needs among female undergraduate students, focusing on the moderating effects of gender roles attitudes. Data were collected from 342 female undergraduate students enrolled in 12 universities located in Seoul. The main findings of this study are as follows: First, the levels of female students’ future orientation of their future ‘work and career’, and ‘marriage and family’ showed mostly high. Also, they showed substantially equal gender role attitudes with low levels of suicide-related frustration of interpersonal needs. Second, the levels of female students’ suicide-related frustration of interpersonal needs and thwarted belongingness were found to be higher among older students. This was also true when their family income was lower, their future orientation of work and career, and marriage and family weaker, and their gender role attitudes more traditional. As for the level of perceived burdensomeness, it was found to be higher as the female students’ family income was lower, their future orientation of work and career, and marriage and family weaker, and the gender role attitudes more traditional. Third, this study found significant moderation effects of gender role attitudes on the relationships between future orientation and suicide related frustration of interpersonal needs. Female students with low levels of future orientation of marriage and family who had a traditional gender role attitude showed high levels of suicide-related frustration of interpersonal needs and thwarted belongingness. The results of this study suggest the practical implications of gender equality education and therapy programs for young women to prevent their frustration of interpersonal needs.
