Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify multiple mediating effects of work-family spillover on the relationship between child factors and mental health of married women employees. For the analysis, data of 1,650 married women employees with children from the 7th years of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families of the Korea Women’s Development Institute were used. The study hypotheses were tested using SEM(Structural Equation Modelling) analysis with AMOS 21.0 software. The main findings were as follows. First, married women employees generally showed higher levels of positive spillover than negative spillover. Second, number of preschool children and number of school-age children have no direct influence on stress and anxiety of married women employees. Third, number of preschool children affected stress and anxiety of married women employees through work to family negative spillover, family to work positive spillover, and family to work negative spillover. Fourth, number of school-age children affected anxiety of married women employees through family to work negative spillover. Fifth, the findings confirmed that how number of preschool children and number of school-age children influence stress and anxiety of married women employees through work-family spillover as a mediator. Results suggest that the need for a support system tailored to the family life cycle and age of the children. Futhermore, implications, limitations, and future directions were discussed based on the results.
