Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the impact of time poverty in terms of free time, unpaid work time, and paid labor time on fertility intention in the pre- and post-COVID-19 periods. The research question is "Does the impact of time poverty on fertility intention differ between the pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 periods?" To analyze this, the temporal scope of the study was set to year 2018 before COVID-19 and year 2020 during COVID-19, and the impact of time poverty on fertility intention was analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The analysis reveals that poverty in free time was not significant in the pre-COVID-19 period but had a significant effect on fertility intention during the COVID-19 period. Similarly, poverty in unpaid work time, which was not significant before COVID-19, had a negative and significant effect during the pandemic. Poverty in paid labor hours is not significant in either the pre-COVID-19 or post-COVID-19 periods. These findings suggest that need for policy alternatives the burden of women's domestic work, such as promoting care policies and parental leave systems for male spouses, and addressing traditional gender role values, in order to mitigate the vulnerability of women to time poverty and the imbalance between work and family during the COVID-19 period.
