Abstract

This study highlighted the importance of e-health literacy in obtaining quality medical information. However, with the removal of restrictions on information providers, issues related to the reliability and accuracy of information have emerged. In this situation, critical thinking and judgment by those seeking information have become more important. In particular, when it comes to medical information, it is crucial to use e-health literacy skills to obtain quality medical information. Therefore, this study investigated whether the quality of medical information used by healthcare consumers who had been treated at medical institutions varied according to their e-healthliteracy skills. Additionally, it examined whether the information-seeking behavior of medical information users mediated the relationship between e-health literacy and obtaining quality medical information. The results showed that healthcare consumers' e-health literacy positively influenced their ability to obtain quality medical information. It was particularly evident that users who engaged in information sharing activities, rather than simple information seeking activities, were more likely to obtain quality medical information.
