기독교신종교운동으로서의 통일교와 한국적영성

초록
신종교운동은 기성종교가 갖고 있는 문제에 대해 대안적 성격을 갖는다. 기성종교는 제도에 얽매여 폐쇄적이 되거나 피안을 강조함으로써 현세적 윤리에 무관심을 자초한다. 뿐만 아니라 현실을 타파함으로써 미래를 이상으로 맞이하고자 하는 열정은 무뎌져 현상을 유지하고자 하는 기성종교는 신종교 탄생의 근거가 된다. 따라서 신종교운동의 생성은 기성종교의 종교적 전승과 비전에서 찾을 수 있다. 기성종교의 종교적 전승은 변화하여 쌓이며 그러한 종교적 전승은 이데올로기가 되어 기성화 한다. 나아가 이데올로기화한 종교적 전승은 종교적 비전을 여여하지 못하게 한다. 종교가 잉태해온 미래를 결코 희망이 되지 못하게 한다. 처음 세운 비전을 왜곡하기 일 수이기 때문이다. 다시 말하면 종교적 전승이란 한 종교문화의 역사적 축적이다. 한 종교의 종교의례 신조, 경전, 신학, 제도, 관습, 법, 문화적 유산 전체를 가리킨다고 할 수 있다. 물론 인류의 종교사를 단순히 하나의 전승으로서 상징화하는 것은 피상적이며, 오히려 그 상징이 그것을 믿는 사람들에게 가지는 의미를 파악하여 개인뿐만이 아니라 공동체적으로 그 종교의 이해를 도모해야 할 것이다. 따라서 종교적 전승의 바른 이해는 한 종교의 이해에 접근하는 타당한 길이 될 수 있다. 또한 종교적 비전(vision)이란 어떤 종교의 미래에 대한 희망이요 약속이라고 할 수 있다. 곧 한 종교의 궁극적 목표인 이상사회에 대한 꿈이다. 완전한 사회를 이루고자 하는 것은 비단 종교만의 비전은 아니나, 종교적 비전만큼 강렬한 것도 없다. 거개의 종교가 완전사회에 대한 열망으로 그들 신앙의 지표를 형성하고 있다. 기독교의 하나님나라 혹은 보다 구체적인 천년왕국에 대한 이상이 있다. 그 외에 신종교에도 각기 자신의 비전에 따라 이상세계를 향한 그들의 발걸음을 재촉하고 있다. 따라서 종교적 비전은 신앙과 그 신앙에 대한 실천의지이기 때문에 종교적 비전이야말로 종교이해의 중요한 요소가 되고 있다. 그러니까 한 종교의 종교적 비전은 무엇이며, 그를 성취하기 위한 신앙적 실천의지는 어떻게 전개되고 있는가 하는 점을 살펴 종교를 이해한다는 것은 종교적 전승을 통한 종교이해만큼이나 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 신종교운동으로서의 통일교도 마찬가지다. 통일교가 기독교의 신종교운동인 점은 기독교의 전승과 비전에서 찾아져야 한다는 말이다. 그렇게 하기 위해 통일교의 전승적 토대를 이루고 있는 유대교와 기독교 그리고 기독교와 통일교를 위에서 언급한 종교적 전승과 비전에서 살필 것이며 아울러 통일교가 담지하고 있는 한국적 영성을 말하고자 한다. 결론은 이렇다. 통일교는 분명히 한국에서 자생한 신종교다. 종교적 전승에서 보면 한국의 기독교 신종교임에 틀림없으나 종교적 비전에서 보면 한국적 영성을 담지하고 있는 한국의 신종교라고 해도 크게 어긋남이 없을 것이다.
Abstract
New religious movements try to make an alternative proposal due to the problems of existing religions. Often the existing religions are institutionalized to be exclusive or are uninterested in the ethics of this world for the emphasis on existence after death. In addition, as they are busy with the preservation of the status, the passion for the ideal is getting cold. These cause the emergence of new religions. Consequently, the emergence of new religions can be inferred from the religious transmission and vision of the existing religions. In many cases the accumulation of the religious traditions of existing religions has become an ideologythat brings about the loss of religious vision and hope. On the one hand, religious tradition is the historical accumulations of religious culture comprising religious ceremony, creed, scripture, theology, institution, custom, law and all other cultural heritage. Accordingly, a goodunderstanding of a religion means a good understanding of the religious tradition. On the other hand, religious vision is the hope and promise of future. In other words, a dream of ideal society is the ultimate goal. The passion towards a perfect society is quite strong, for instance, the Kingdom of God by Christians or other similar worlds by new religious movements. Therefore, it is important to understand the religious vision of a religion ifyou really want to, understand the religion. The same goes for the Unification Church as a new religious movement. The Unification Church is a new Christian religious movement. For that reason, I will look at the religious transmission from Judaism to the Christian Church that forms the basis of the Unification Church as well as the Korean spirituality in the Unification Church. In the end, the Unification Church is a new Christian movement in terms of religious tradition and a new Korean religion in terms of religious vision.
