전후일본 70년과 복수의 평화주의－SEALDs의 운동과 정동－

Abstract

This paper examines the process of social conflict surrounding the new student movement, SEALDs (Students Emergency Action for Liberal Democracy-s), that appeared in Japan in 2015. Young people who saw the bottom of the Japanese society by the Fukushima earthquake and nuclear disaster in 2011, began to raise their voices in the streets in opposition to the security bill in 2015. The reason why the SEALDs movement attracted attention is not only because the active demonstration format of college students was unique, but also because such a younger generation held up the principle of constitutionalism, democracy and pacifism in postwar Japan. The assertions of the SEALDs were able to appeal to the sense of guilt and self-esteem of the older generation who had experienced former social movements and had lived as ‘empty subjects’. On the other hand, in the course of this movement, various objections to their historical consciousness caused controversy through differences of faction, generation, gender and nationality. For example, the SEALDs criticized the violence of the new left forces through well organized demonstrations while also entering into cooperative relationships with the police - - making national subjects in the process of movement. While the conservativism of such SEALDs caused a contrroversy through the SNS, advocates of them blocked the criticism, emphasizing the formation of an affective empathy rather than any real discussion. It is possible to read the compulsive time awareness and anti-intellectualism that became specialized in the campaign against the security bill through this process. This article will be a work to pursue the possibility of different plural form of pacifism, by exposing the historical crack that has been accumulating through 70 years of postwar Japan.
