2019년 타이완의 동성결혼 법제화와 서울의 제20회 퀴어 퍼레이드는 모두 타이완과 한국의 LGBTQ 역사 및 운동에 이정표가 되었다. 확실히 이 두 사건은 기록으로 남을 것이며 이 세대의 집단적 기억의 한자리를 차지하게 될 것이다. 그리고 동시에 주류의 공공 역사와 감추어진 과거 사이에 문제를 제기―또는 긴장을 조성―하게 될 것이다. 이 논문은 같은 해인 2019년 일어난 두 가지 문화적 사건을 퀴어 역사와 관련시켜 관찰한다. 서울의 “퀴어락(QueerArch)” 전시와 “동성애자 오명의 역사로의 재방문”으로, 두 가지 모두 퀴어 아카이브라고 하는 이슈에 기반을 두고 있고 그것을 반영하고 있다. 타이완과 한국의 두 전시회와 퀴어 아카이브 구축을 상호참조하는 것을 실례로 삼아, 나는 아카이브를 퀴어링 하는 양식은 아카이브가 지식 또는 주제 검색의 장이 아닌 지식 생산의 장이라는 관점을 견지해야 한다고 주장한다. 나아가 도래하는 미래에 문제를 제기하고, 서로 다른 세대의 사용자와 해석자들이 형성 중인 퀴어 역사의 다양한 사료를 읽어내는 지난한 과정을 거칠 것을 요구한다.
Abstract
In 2019, Taiwan’s legalization of same-sex marriage and Seoul’s 20th queer parade all mark the mile-stone of LGBTQ history and movement in Taiwan and South Korea. These public events certainly will be recorded and become part of collective memories of a generation, while at the same time, raise the questions/tensions about/between dominant public history and submerged past. This paper observes the other two cultural events related to queer history happened in the same year of 2019：the exhibition of QueerArch in Seoul and of Revisiting the History of Tongzhi Stigma in Taipei, both are based and reflect on the issues of queer archive. By inter-referencing the two exhibitions and the construction of queer archives in Taiwan and South Korea as an illustration, I argue the mode of queering archive is to view archives not as sites of knowledge or subject retrieval, but of knowledge production. Furthermore, it calls into question the coming of the future, requires users, interpreters from different generations to wade through the diverse material of queer history in the making.
