행장(行狀)의 서술 원리와 수사(修辭)를 활용한 서사 쓰기 교육 방안 - <선비정경부인행장(先妣貞敬夫人行狀)>과 <조비행장습유록(祖妣行狀拾遺錄)>을 중심으로 -

Abstract

This paper is about an educational method for narrative writing using the traditional writing mode of Korea. This paper is designed for a narrative writing teaching-learning model that aims to cultivate narrative thinking in the perception that the current college students need the establishment of self-identity and education to find the goals and meanings of their lives. In this model, two works <先妣貞敬夫人行狀> and <祖妣行狀拾遺錄> amidst Haengjang, one of the Korean biography writing, were selected as examples of writing narratives about others and analyze the principles of the narrative and the features of rhetorics. Also, they were asked to perform the Haengjang writing, applying the narrative principle and strategy of composition and expression. The Haengjang writing that narrates the lives of others enables students to reflect on themselves through the cultivation of narrative thinking, expand the ability to empathize with others, and contribute to the cultivation of ethical and moral judgment. Writing narratives about others is the work of raising the humanistic value of writing education. In the meantime, university writing education mainly aims to improve expression and thinking skills while lacking personality maturities, such as introspection, understanding of the other person, and developing empathy skills. As the significance of writing education as a liberal arts education is to enhance humanistic values, narrative writing education that enables us to establish self-identity, to solidify with others, and to think about what is human life and what are desirable values, is a necessary and meaningful writing education in our time.
