With the global spread of English, English has become a language of wider communication used by athird of the world’s population. Grounding world Englishes and English as an international language asa theoretical framework, the purpose of this study is to explore how Korean college students perceiveissues related to world Englishes and English teaching/learning in Korea. This study also examines theattitudes and perceptions of college students toward different varieties of English in the ExpandingCircle. For the purpose, quantitative data from survey questionnaires of 526 respondents were gathered. Also, qualitative data from interviews of 20 college students were collected. The results showed thatKorean college students have positive attitude toward world Englishes. It also discusses the issue ofwhich English should be taught in EFL settings such as Korea. The students need to have awareness ofother varieties of English. Based on the findings, several pedagogical suggestions and possible futureresearch directions are offered in the conclusion.
