초록

This paper explores the basic concept of the linguistic theory of the minimalist program put forth by Chomsky (1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2008). In this paper, we examine how natural languages are analyzed in the proposed framework conceptually as well as empirically. Considering the theoretical background of the minimalist theory, we show which linguistic theory meets the minimalist standard and argue the proper way we pursue in the linguistic framework of the minimalist theory to ensure the genuine explanatory adequacy of the linguistic theory.

Abstract

This paper explores the basic concept of the linguistic theory of the minimalist program put forth by Chomsky (1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2008). In this paper, we examine how natural languages are analyzed in the proposed framework conceptually as well as empirically. Considering the theoretical background of the minimalist theory, we show which linguistic theory meets the minimalist standard and argue the proper way we pursue in the linguistic framework of the minimalist theory to ensure the genuine explanatory adequacy of the linguistic theory.
