This study is aimed at analyzing the works of Isabel Berglund, a concept-centered designer receiving much attention lately in the fashion industry, who continues to pursue new areas in her works by utilizing knitting among the design elements of clothing. In this study, the expression characteristics of conceptual art that centers around thoughts and ideas were analyzed by applying to the works of knit fashion designer Isabel Berglund. It shows broad expressive characteristics without being bound to spatial limitations or shape in terms of artistic expression by providing experiences of unique spaces in widening the scope of the generally regarded knitted material. Diverse knitting techniques were utilized as ways of freely expressing artistic sensibility through the artist’s ideas in deviation from the concept of outer shape or completion of knitted works, as well as expressing the significance of works pursued by the designer. In addition, the works of Isabel Berglund has a unique meaning in the relationship between the knit fashion and space, and attempts new possibilities so that the characteristics shown in knit fashion could be experienced in relation to the environment.
