Abstract

The pluralized culture derived from development of network triggered not only a trend of deconstructivism composed of deconstruction, blending and change of thought, but also formed a generalized aesthetic element in various fields of arts and fashion. As such tendency is on the rise in the practical knit fashion, I am to analyze the characteristics of expression of deconstructivism illustrated in knit fashion and present direction of design. This study analyzes characteristics of expression of deconstructivism in knit fashion based on theoretical researches on deconstructivism. In ‘deconstruction of composition’, it was expressed as omission, imitation, damage, or incomplete or displayed deconstruction of extent genres through trompe-l’ieil technique. Here, expressive techniques such as miss stitch or unravel. In ‘deconstruction of form’, it displayed characteristics that expressed in inadequate sizes or distorted form using drapability, elasticity and flexibility, and in ‘deconstruction of substance’, a new matter was recreated through a mixture with other material or use of inadequate material. In ‘deconstruction of continuity’, it was displayed in awkward arrangement and in absurd form or unexpectedness with incongruent insertion and attachment and detachment. In ‘deconstruction of coupling method’, it retains characteristics of change in fit using flexibility of knits.
