초록
This paper seeks to define the characteristics of political language and also provides a critical discourse analysis of presuppositions and Metaphor by exploring semantic and pragmatic effects found in the political advertisement. Stanker(1978) explains presupposition as a pragmatic phenomenon, what is taken by the speaker to be the common ground of the participants in the conversation. In this paper I analyzed some presupposition triggers such as definite article, relative clause, and etc, which is quoted from Lakoff(2004, 2008). In particular, this paper broadly covers and analyzes the pragmatic aspects of language messages used by presidential candidates in Korea during the election campaign. The linguistic researches on political fields is hardly featured both in political and linguistic societies in Korea. However, in the future more papers or research topics in this field will be deeply explored and published by both political groups and linguists.

This paper seeks to define the characteristics of political language and also provides a critical discourse analysis of presuppositions and Metaphor by exploring semantic and pragmatic effects found in the political advertisement.
