Macrame technique applied to clothing contributes to high level of completion of craftwork-like usage of fabric or emphasis on structural characteristic of fabric and ornamental component. Such an application of fabric craft combined with macrame method is effective in presentation of artfulness in fashion. This study intends to work on knitwear used with macrame showing more artistic effect. This work proceeds to analysis about presentation type of macrame knitwear and its expressive effect in the modern fashion. Study results indicate two categories in macrame expression. One is presentation similar to handicraft with traditional macrame technique. The other is presentation with image applied with knitwear structure. Macrame's knitwear expression effect appearing in the modern fashion such results as relievo, see-through, and spatial effect. This work helped to organize and provide design theories needed in understanding the expressive types and images in the conventional handicraft knitwear and to expend the expression realm in knitwear.
