초록
This study aimed to examine the processing of short–distance pronouns that are not subject to binding theory, based on Tenny’s theory. Two groups of participants were involved in the experiment: a criterion group and a random group. They were asked to choose the antecedents of pronouns in three types of sentences(SDP construction, NON-SDP construction, and coargument construction). The results revealed that Korean learners were sensitive to the structural differences between generative environments where local coreferences are permitted and those where they are not. Additionally, participants in the criterion group showed an awareness of pronouns’ referential ambiguity and a weak preference for the local antecedents in SDP constructions. These findings provide empirical evidence for short- distance pronouns, suggesting that their processing is guided more by lexical-semantic information than by syntactic information.
