가톨릭대학의 교육 이념과 그 방향성 연구: 가톨릭 학교 교육에 관한 교회 문헌을 중심으로

교회는 제2차 바티칸 공의회에서 그리스도인 교육에 관한 선언을 반포하였다. 인간생활에서 교육이 미치는 영향은 지대하며 현대 사회의 진보에도교육은 끊임없이 영향을 미친다. 공의회는 교육은 인간의 인격성숙을 추구할 뿐 아니라, 구원의 신비를 깨닫도록 인도한다고 가르치며 교육과 학교의중요성을 명시했다. 가톨릭 학교는 인간 형성을 추구해야 하며, 하느님 백성의 사명 수행 및 인간 사회의 상호 유익을 위한 대화에 봉사해야 하는 기관으로 그 중요성을 지닌다. 이후 교황청 가톨릭교육성성은 가톨릭 학교에 관한 지침을 통해 가톨릭 학교의 교육적 가치를 재강조하였다. 이후에도 교회는 가톨릭 대학 및 가톨릭 학교 교육에 관한 지침을 발표함으로써 대학 교육에 대한 지대한 관심을 표명하였다. 대학의 위기 상황을 맞으며 한국의 가톨릭계 대학에서는 가톨릭 대학 이념에 대한 관심으로 교회 문헌들에 주목하였고, 교회의 가르침을 교육 현장에 적용하려고 시도하는 연구 성과들이나오기 시작했다. 이에 본 연구는 선행 연구를 기반으로 하여 가톨릭 학교교육에 관한 교회 문헌을 검토하면서 교회가 가톨릭 대학에 요구하는 바와가톨릭 대학의 정체성에 대해 고찰해 보고자 한다. 그리하여 오늘날 대학 교육과 운영에 대한 방향성을 제안해 보는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.
Abstract
The Church issued a declaration on Christian education at the Second Vatican Council. Education has a profound impact on human life and continually influences the progress of modern society. The Council teaches that education not only seeks the maturation of human personality but also guides individuals in realizing the mystery of salvation, thereby underscoring the importance of education and schools. Catholic schools must pursue human formation and hold significance as institutions that serve the mission of the People of God and facilitate dialogue for the mutual benefit of human society. Subsequently, the Congregation for Catholic Education reaffirmed the educational values of Catholic schools through its guidelines on Catholic education. Furthermore, the Church has consistently expressed significant interest in higher education by issuing guidelines regarding Catholic universities and schools. As Korean Catholic universities face a crisis and the need for structural reform, they have turned their attention to Church documents out of an interest in the ideals of Catholic universities. Research outcomes have begun to emerge, attempting to apply the teachings of the Church to the educational field. Building on previous research, this study aims to examine Church documents related to Catholic school education, reflecting on the Church’s expectations for Catholic universities and their identity. The purpose of this study is to propose a direction for contemporary university education and administration.
