만 5세 유아의 가족인식에 관한 연구: 동적 가족화 분석을 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 보육 경험을 가진 만5세 유아가 그린 동적 가족화(Kinetic Family Drawing)와 인터뷰를 통해 유아들의 가족에 대한 인식을 구체적으로 조사하는데 있다. 연구 참여자는 서울, 경기, 충청, 전라도 지역의 중소도시에 소재한 유치원과 어린이집에 재원 중인 만5세 유아 144명을 대상으로 하였다. 4주의 연구 기간 중 연구자들은 유아들로부터 가족화 자료를 수집하고, 그중 40명의 유아들을 선정하여 면담을 보조적으로 진행하였다. 자료 분석 절차는 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)의 근거 이론을 바탕으로 이루어졌고, 질적 연구 분석 프로그램인 Nvivo 11을 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아가 인식하는 가족의 의미는 공동거주, 정서적 유대, 물질적 공유 등으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가족화에서 가족의 범위는 ‘전형적인 가족(핵가족), 동물, 조부모, 기타 친‧인척’ 등을 포함하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유아들은 가족의 각 구성원들의 지위에 적합한 역할 기대를 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 가족 구성원의 관계에 대한 인식은 ‘화목한 관계, 갈등관계, 관심 없는 관계, 싸움’ 순으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 가족화에서 가족원의 생략된 모습은 가족의 생활패턴을 반영하였다. 여섯째, 가족화에서 유아들은 가족구성원과 함께 하는 활동 위주로 표현하였다. 본 연구는 참여 유아의 가족에 대한 인식이 다양한 환경 변화를 어떻게 반영하는지 사례를 통하여 보여주며, 가족의 다양성을 반영하는 지원의 중요성을 시사한다.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore children’s perspectives about family in current Korean societies using Kinetic Family Drawing (KED) and interviews, focusing on child care experience. The participants included 144 5-year-olds from Seoul, Kyunggi, Chungcheong Province, and Jeolla Province. Data were collected using KED and face-to-face interviews over a 4-week period. The data were coded via open, axial, and selective coding based on Strauss and Corbin’s Grounded Theory(1998) and then analyzed using Nvivo version 11. The results were as follows. First, the participants explained that co-residence and intimacy were important in a family. Second, family members included the nuclear family, pets, grandparents, and relatives. Third, the participants expected specific roles of each family member. Fourth, the interaction among family members included positive and happy relationships, conflicts, common interests, and fights. Fifth, based on the drawing, family members were excluded from the picture based on their work pattern. Sixth, the participants described their interaction with their family members in detail. This study provides specific data on how children perceive and develop the concept of family, reflecting the rapid changes in Korean families in a modern Korean context. Suggestions for further research on the multiple views of family perception are included in this report.
