어트리뷰트 뮤지컬의 뮤지컬넘버 구성에 따른 서사 구조 연구 – 뮤지컬 <광화문연가>를 중심으로

어트리뷰트 뮤지컬(Attribute Musical)은 단일 뮤지션의 노래들을 스토리와 연결한 뮤지컬 작품이다. 어트리뷰트 뮤지컬 <광화문연가>가 성공적으로 재공연까지 된 이후 국내 어트리뷰트 뮤지컬이 활성화되고 있는 시점이다. 본 논문은 <광화문연가>를 대상으로 뮤지컬넘버로 이용되는 원곡 가사에서 서사 명제를 도출하고 이를 통해 뮤지컬넘버 수정에 따른 뮤지컬 서사 변화를 구조화하는데 목적이 있다. 뮤지컬 전체 서사는 뮤지컬넘버의 가사를 통해 도출된 서사 명제가 계열적으로 조합되는 구조이다. 이 구조 내에서 뮤지컬넘버는 각 인물의 에피소드를 바탕으로 심층에서 인물들 간의 복잡한 의미 구조를 암시하며, 감정을 극대화하는 서사를 구축하는 방향으로 수정된다. 그리고 뮤지컬 전체 서사 내에 안정에서 불안정을 거쳐 다시 안정으로 나아가는 과정이 구조화된다. 본 논문이 제시하는 음악의 가사 분석을 통한 서사 명제는 서사 최소 단위로 곡을 비교 분석하는 기준이라는 점에서 유효한 단위이다. 또한 다수의 서사명제를 계열적 조합으로 파악함으로써 음악과 드라마 서사와의 개연성과 전체서사 구조가 객관적으로 분석될 수 있다는 점에서 본 논문의 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Attribute Musical is a musical work whose story is made of one musician’s songs. After one of the Attribute Musical Gwanghwamun Sonata was successfully performed, Korean Attribute Musicals are being invigorated. The purpose of this study is to extract narrative propositions from the original song lyrics of Gwanghwamun Sonata which is also used as musical numbers. Then, this study aims to structuralize the narrative changes of musical according to the modification of musical numbers. The entire story of a musical is a succession system composed of narrative propositions from the lyrics of musical numbers. In this structural system, musical numbers imply the complex semantic structure among the characters in their own episodes. Then the narrative of musical numbers is modified to maximize the emotion of characters. The structural process of the entire story of musical starts from stable point moving to instable point and finally it becomes stable at all. The narrative propositions by analyzing the lyrics of music is a valid smallest unit in that it can be a criteria to compare the songs. In addition, by identifying many of narrative propositions as succession system, the entire narrative structure and the relation between music and dramatic narrative could be objectively analyzed.
