Abstract

Martin-hyun, who has been attracting attention as a German descendant of Korean descent, recently published a collection of essays on Korean compatriots residing in Germany. He explained the “adversity” and “hardships” of Korean compatriots as follows. In the group of immigrants in Germany, Korean compatriots are a'small' community. I was concerned that it would. The unilateral conformity and silence of Korean compatriots was often recognized by the German media as a “symbol of weakness” by Asians. In this article, I looked into the life of Martin Hyun, the second generation of successful immigrants, through an essay written by him. His parents, who were typical Korean immigrants living in Germany, and in their patriarchal order, Martin-Hyun has complied, and has been striving to meet the conditions his parents demanded. He referred to his parents as people who had gone through all of the prenatal rites. Second generations of immigrants show generational differences in their hometown, ethnicity, identity, and stereotypes of German society by showing different attitudes from their parents, the first generation. Second generations at home experience conflict with their parents due to cultural differences, but when they enter society, they experience discrimination and exclusion through the visibility of their skin color and appearance. Second generation of Korean-German and Asian immigrants
