Abstract

North Koreans insisted in February 2005 that they had developed nuclear weapons to defend themselves from the American hostile policies, and declared that they would suspend their participation in the 6-way talk indefinitely. Bush administration in response announced that they were taking "other options" into consideration. This study analyzes what those "other options" are and what they could imply for us. First, it constructs an ideal-type for each of "all the options" that Bush administration may have, and then traces which options actually had been in use. Against these two backgrounds "other options" are brought into high relief.
