초록
Duck circovirus (DuCV) has been noted to cause immunosuppression and secondary infections in ducks. This case was diagnosed as a co-infection with DuCV and avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) due to growth retardation and persistent mortality in a duck farm. In the gross examination, individuals suspected of bacterial infection and individuals with growth retardation without specific visual findings were identified, and an investigation into the causative agent was conducted. APEC was isolated from the bacterial culture, and inflammatory cells were identified in the histopathological examination. Furthermore, while avian influenza virus, duck tembusuvirus, and duck parvovirus antigens were not detected by each virus-specific PCR test, DuCV antigen was detected. The detected DuCV was classified as DuCV-1b, the predominant strain in Korea, and showed 96.9% to 98.6% homology with DuCV-1b previously reported in Korea.
