초록

Serological responses to lumpy skin disease (LSD) vaccination were evaluated in 1,171 Hanwoo (Korean native cattle) and 256 dairy cattle in Jeonnam province, Korea. Blood samples were collected from April to June 2025 to assess immunity following a national vaccination campaign initiated in late 2023. Seropositivity in Hanwoo was dependent on the number of vaccinations; rates were low after one (27.4%) and two (27.1%) doses but increased significantly after three (52.0%) and four (64.0%) doses. In contrast, dairy cattle showed a high seropositivity of 71.9% after a single dose. A notable finding within the Hanwoo breed was the low seropositivity in vaccinated bulls (6.5%) compared to cows (48.3%). These results suggest that for Hanwoo, a vaccination strategy involving repeated doses is crucial for achieving a robust immune response. The poor immune response in bulls represents a potential risk for disease control and warrants further investigation.
