Abstract

Indian Buddhism’s Cause and effect and interdependent arising(pratītyasamutpāda), and apekṣā paraspara were appeared in philosophical worry about how to prescribe relations between existence and essence, so it was deeply in with substantiality of existence. Indian authentic philosophy which emphasis on Atman or Brahman important to continuity of truth, so they had to know essence of existence and relationship by concept of cause and effect. But Buddhism’s position which emphasis on immateriality of existence is interdependent arising and apekṣā paraspara. But Sarvativada try to interpret interdependent arising as a viewpoint of realism. Nāgārjuna assert on the basis on Madhyamaka that the viewpoint of realism is misunderstanding of interdependent arising(apekṣā paraspara), and the theory of interdependent arising’s real meaning is that every existence is Sunyata which lack of substantiality. This paper look for comparatively the meaning and origin of Cause and effect and interdependent arising, and apekṣā paraspara on Nāgārjuna’s Madhyamaka.
