포항 북부 흥해읍 일대의 해안단구 지형 특성과 단구 퇴적물 연대

본 연구는 포항 북부 흥해읍 일대에 분포하는 해안단구를 대상으로 지형 특성을 조사하고, 이를 토대로단구 퇴적물에 대한 연대측정을 행함으로써 단구의 생성 시기를 규명하고자 하였다. 이 지역의 제2단구는 해발고도 약 10~25m, 제3단구는 해발고도 약 35~45m에 걸쳐 분포하며, 기반암 위에 해빈자갈, 해빈모래, 토탄, 사구모행하였으며, 그 신뢰도를 검증하기 위하여 해빈모래 상부에 쌓인 토탄에 대하여는 방사성 탄소 연대측정을 하였다. 측정 결과, 제2단구는 약 73~78ka, 제3단구는 약 104~127ka의 시기에 해빈모래가 퇴적된 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 연구지역에서 제2단구는 MIS 5a 시기(약 8만년전), 그리고 제3단구는 5e 시기(약 12.5만년전)에 생성된 것으로 추정된다.
Abstract
This study examined the morphological characteristics of coastal terraces in Heunghae of the northernpart of the Pohang city and dated their sediments based on OSL and radiocarbon dating methods. The research resultsshow that the elevation of the 2nd Terrace is ca. 10~25m over the mean sea level and its sediments deposited during theperiod of ca. 73 ~ 78ka. Besides, the elevation of the 3rd Terrace is ca. 35~45m over the mean sea level and itssediments deposited during the period of ca. 104 ~ 127ka. It means that the 2nd Terrace was formed during the MISstage 5a and the 3rd Terrace during the MIS stage 5e.
