경주시 양남-양북 일대의 해안단구 지형 특성과 단구 퇴적물에 대한 OSL 연대측정

본 연구에서는 경주시 양남면과 양북면 일대의 해안단구를 대상으로 지형 특성을 조사하고, 단구 퇴적물로부터 모래 시료를 채취하여 OSL 연대측정을 행하였다. 조사 결과, 제2단구는 해발 10-25m, 제3단구는 해발 30-45m, 제4단구는 해발 45-55m에서 나타나며, 단구 퇴적물은 자갈 중심의 조립질 퇴적물이 지배적이다. 단구 퇴적물 내에 모래층이 비교적 두꺼운 곳을 찾아서 시료를 채취하여 OSL 연대측정을 시도한 결과, 봉길리 제2단구는 약 60-64ka, 진리 제3단구는 약 116-126ka의 연대 값을 얻었다. 위의 조사 결과를 종합적으로 살펴볼 때, 연구 지역에서 제2단구는 MIS 5a, 그리고 제3단구는 MIS 5e 시기에 생성된 것으로 추정된다.

Abstract

This study surveyed the landform characteristics and geochronological framework of coastal terraces in Yangnam and Yangbuk area of the Gyeongju City, South Korea. The formation ages of terraces were estimated on the basis of OSL (Optically Stimulated Luminescence) dating on marine sediments covering terraces. The elevations of the 2nd terraces are in the range of 10-25m (a.m.s.l) and those of 3rd and 4th terraces are ranging 30-45m (a.m.s.l) and 45-55m (a.m.s.l), respectively. The terrace deposits are mainly composed of gravel with thin sand layers. The sand layers on the 2nd terrace of Bongilri area were dated to have been deposited at ca. 60-64ka and those on the 3rd terrace of Jinri area at ca. 116-126ka. Based upon these dating results, it is concluded that the 2nd terrace has been formed during the MIS 5a and the 3rd terrace during the MIS 5e in this study area.
