연변불교문화에 대한 역사적 성찰

Abstract

As an important part of our national cultural heritage, Buddhist culture,which had settled in Yanbian region with the history of Korean Chinese migration, has still been existing in real life. However, related research is still lack and weak because of the several reasons. Actually, Buddhism and Buddhist culture has gone through the period of low ebb at the early migration time in Yanbian Korean society. In 1920s when so-called pure region entered, Yanbian Buddhism had been divided into Korean Buddhism and Japanese Buddhism and displayed a hot flourishing more or less. The eminent and learned monks, such as Yong-seong, Su-wol, had done much to build up the power of Buddhsimin this area. After the founding of New China, Buddhism has been continued as a habit and culture rather than a religion in the Korean Chinese society. In 1994, with the restoration of Jeong-gak Temple, Hwa-eom Temple and Yeong-bo Temple and many temples had sprung up through Yanbian region. However, Buddhist culture has not been much studiedand propagated as tightly integrated with economic development and become one of tourist courses, which one can’t help but worried.
