Abstract

This discussion examined about desirable model of digital archives, which compiles Buddhist culture and can utilize this in diverse sections in the smart media era that we are now experiencing. The Academy of Buddhist Studies in Dongguk University is performing a project of implementing the archives of Buddhist culture with a support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Accordingly, a debater aims to prescribe the character of Buddhist culture as the cultural property. The result that Buddhism communicated with society and history is contained in Buddhist culture as the shared-karma character. Also, just as Buddha's message is, it was produced for many people's benefit, comfort, and happiness, thereby likely needing to be utilized through participation by being shared and opened for the purpose of people's benefit, comfort and happiness. Through this discussion, it examined a model in the archives of Buddhist culture with the complex perspective dubbed the implementation of firm database, the connection type of cultural contents, a model in cultural informatics, and the implementation of cultural production in a case of domestic archives. As for the long-term tasks for implementing the archives of Buddhist culture, it suggested, first, the necessity of establishing identity for archive 2.0, second, the necessity of developing platform for user participation for opening and participation, and third, the necessity of pointing to the customized personalization service based on smart media. This discussion will be one suggestion in order for us to utilize by collecting and preserving Buddhist culture and socializing value on this. Also, the aim is to contribute to an effort for producing it as creative knowledge by socially communicating with the value on Buddhist culture and for implementing archives that can be utilized complexly by diverse users.
