예배는 기독교 신앙의 가장 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 예배를 통해 기독교 신앙의 가장 본질적인 사건인 하나님과의 만남이 이루어지기도 하고, 또한 그 만남을 통해 형성하는 기독교적 정체성을 가지고 삶으로 나아가기도 하다. 한국교회에는 다양한 예배가 있다. 그 예배들 가운데 주일날 오전에 드리는 예배를 우리는 소위 주일대예배라고 부른다. 그러나 ‘주일대예배’는 개신교뿐만 아니라 기독교 예배의 역사에서 살펴볼 때 정확한 표현은 아니다. 사실 예배의 크고 작음을 나타내는 언어적 표현이 예배에 있어 상당히 어리석은 인간의 창작물일 수 있다. 개신교회에서 지칭하는 주일대예배에 대해 보다 바람직하고 정확한 표현을 찾자면 ‘말씀의 예배’(The Service of the Word)이 오히려 적합할 수 있다. 주일예배에 대한 현대의 한국개신교의 특징 가운데 하나는 예배 자체를 설교와 동일시하는 경향이다. 예배를 드리는 성도들 자체도 예배 순서 전체의 비중을 평등한 관계에서 놓지 않는다. 사실 오늘날의 한국교회의 예배는 ‘말씀의 예배’라기보다 ‘설교 중심의 예배’(Preaching –centered worship)이다. 오늘날 개신교의 설교중심 예배의 역사와 신학에 대해 성서로부터 종교개혁까지 살펴보려고 하는 것은 오늘날 우리가 가는 길을 점검해볼 필요가 있기 때문이다. 설교를 예배(예전)의 맥락에서 이해하는 것은 “설교를 하나님의 말씀으로서 청중의 참여와 경험 속에서 세울 수 직접적이고 포괄적” 작업이다. 실제로 초대교회 이후 기독교는 설교를 독립적인 사건에서가 아니라 예배의 맥락에서 이해하고 발전시켜 왔다. 이 논문에서 말씀의 예전에 대한 유래와 신학적 배경에 대해서 살펴보고 있다.
Abstract
Worship is one of the most important elements of Christian faith. A human meets God through worship. He/She moves on to life with the christian identity formed through the meeting. There are various services at the Korean Church. Among the services, we call Sunday service in the morning ‘Ju-il-dae-ye-bae(the great Sunday worship).’ However, 'the great Sunday worship' is not an accurate expression in the history of Christian worship as well as Protestant churches. In fact, the language expression that represents the size of the worship can be quite a foolish creation of the service. The Service of the Word may be more appropriate to find a better and more accurate expression for the worship service to be referred to by the Protestant Church. One of the characteristics of modern Korean Protestantism about Sunday worship is the tendency to equate worship with sermon itself. The congregations in worship do not regard the elements of the service as equal. In fact, today's Korean church service is more of a 'preaching-centered' rather than 'the service of the Word.' Today, we are looking at the history and theology of the service of the Words from the Bible to the reformation because we need to check the way we are going today. Understanding preaching in the context of worship is the direct and comprehensive work of building it in the audience's participation and experience as the word of God. In fact, since the early Church, Christianity has developed and understood Words in the context of worship, not in independent cases. In this paper we look at the origins of such words and theirological background.
