고전적 영지 및 영지주의의 개념적 재구성을 위한 시론 : 이만희의 사상을 중심으로
A Study for the Conceptual Reconstruction of Classical Gnosis and Gnosticism: Focusing on the Thoughts of Manhee Lee

이 논문은 영지, 영지주의로 정의되는 이만희의 사상을 중심으로 그 정의의 타당성을 기존의 영지, 영지주의 일반에 대한 정의와 잇대어 검토하고, 그 개념의 외연을 넓히고 분별할 수 있게 되는 발전적 요소를 제공하는 데 그 연구목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는, ‘영지 및 영지주의 일반은 무엇인가?’ ‘이만희의 사상은 어떤 영지, 영지주의인가?’ ‘영지 및 영지주의를 어떻게 재정의할 수 있는가?’라는 세 가지 의문에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 영지주의 일반의 시각에서 지식은 구원에 이르는 필요충분조건이라고 할 수 있다. 다시 말해 영지주의에서 구원의 기준은 지식과 믿음인데, 그 가운데서도 지식이 중요하기 때문에 영지주의적 구원론을 지식 중심적 구원론이라고 부를 수 있다. 이렇게 볼 때, 이만희 사상은 고전적인 영지 개념에 신영지(neo-gnosis)로서의 신탁적 영지를 포함하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 신영지(new gnosis)로서의 증언적-타율적-불연속적 영지 개념도 포함되는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 고전적 영지주의 개념을 보완하는 차원에서 신영지주의(neo-gnosticism)의 요소도 발견할 수 있었다. 즉, 제한적 일원론과는 다른 순환적 일원론, 선택적 기독론 등이 그것이다. 그리고 이만희의 사상에서 보이는 차별적-중재적ㆍ매개적-추종적-폐쇄적-집단적 구원론 등은 원형적 구원론의 특성에서는 확인되지 않는 신영지주의(new gnosticism)라고 정의할 수 있었다. 이 논문에서 이만희의 사상 분석을 통해 신영지(neo-gnosis)와 이에 기반한 신영지주의(neo-gnosticism), 신영지(new gnosis)에 근거한 신영지주의(new gnosticism)를 발견하였으며, 이를 통해 고전적 영지 및 고전적 영지주의 일반 개념을 재구성할 수 있는 실마리를 확보할 수 있었다. 이만희 사상에 대한 비판적 이해를 통해 크리스천의 영적 분별력이 생기고, 갈등을 경험하는 지식인을 대상으로 진리이신 예수님을 보다 적극적으로 전파할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
We intend to ask and answer three questions in this thesis. ‘What is gnosis and gnosticism?’ ‘What kind of gnosis and gnosticism is Manhee Lee’s ideology?’ ‘How can we redefine gnosis and gnosticism? Through this, although it is a theory, we got our own answer. In gnosticism, knowledge is a necessary and sufficient condition for salvation. In other words, the standard of salvation in gnosticism is knowledge and faith, and knowledge is important among them. Therefore, the gnostic soteriology can be called a knowledge-centered soteriology. Under this premise, Manhui Lee's thought includes the oracle gnostic as neo-gnosis in the classical concept of gnosticism. In addition, it was analyzed that the concept of testimony-heteronomic-discontinuous gnosticism as a new gnosis should be included. In addition, elements of neo-gnosticism were found to complement the concept of classical gnosticism. In other words, circular monism and selective Christology are different from limited monism. And the discriminatory-medialㆍmediating-following-closed-collective soteriology seen in Manhee Lee's thought could be defined as new gnosticism, which was not confirmed in the characteristics of the original soteriology. In conclusion, we discovered neo-gnosis, neo-gnosticism based on this, and new gnosticism based on new gnosis through the analysis of Manhee Lee's thought. Through this, we were able to secure a clue to reconstruct the concept of classical gnosis and classical gnosticism.
