우리나라 지오투어리즘의 현황 파악과 향후 전망을 위해 국내외 문헌을 비롯해 지오투어리즘 산업의 인프라에 관해 살펴보았다. 특히 탐방프로그램의 내용과 교육이 비교적 잘 준비되어 있을뿐더러 활발하게 진행되고 있는 것으로 판단되는 태안국립공원 등 몇 곳의 탐방프로그램에 직접 참여하여 보고 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째 국내 지오투어리즘 인프라는 비교적 양호한 것으로 판단되나 지형의 형성과정이나 지질 관련 해설판이 매우 적어 이에 대한 보완이 필요하다. 둘째, 국립공원관리공단에서 운영 중인 탐방프로그램은 주제별 특성이 부각될 수 있도록 프로그램 내용, 운영방식, 운영주체 등을 특화시킬 필요가 있다. 셋째, 국립공원관리공단 조직 내에 지형경관 및 지질교육 분과를 신설하여 지형경관 및 지질해설에 필요한 인력을 양성시킬 필요가 있다. 더 나아가서는 중앙정부와 지방정부 내 지오투어리즘 전담부서를 신설할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 지리학 및 지질학 등 관련 학문과의 연계를 통해 탐방 프로그램의 질적인 제고를 도모하기 위해서는 민간 기업, 관련 정부 부처, 대학 간의 민·관·학의 상호협력 체계가 구축되어야 한다. 다섯째, 지오투어리즘의 활성화는 새로운 일자리 창출은 물론 수려한 국내의 자연경관을 전 세계에 홍보함으로써 국가 브랜드 가치와 이미지 제고에 큰 기여를 하게 될 것이다. 따라서 정부차원의 재정지원이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 여섯째, 지역의 문화, 역사 등과 연계한 스토리를 개발하여 우리나라만이 가지는 세계적인 지오투어리즘 자원을 발굴해낼 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The researcher has examined about the infrastructure of geotourism industry as well as domestic and foreign literatures in order to see the future and present status of geotourism in our country. The researcher have concluded the followings after participating in the interpretive program of Taean haean(coastal) National Park, etc. which is thought to as having relatively well-prepared contents and education in addition to the active progress of the program especially. First, although the domestic infrastructure of geotourism is thought as relatively well-established, one needs to make up for the weak point that there are not enough editions of explanations related to land formation process and geological aspects. Second, the interpretive program operated by The Korea National Service Park needs to specialize what the program is all about, how it is operated, who is operating, and so on in order to bring subjects?characteristics into relief. Third, one needs to train the persons required to explain geomorphic landscape and geological features by establishing the new division of education of geomorphic landscape and geological features. Furthermore, one needs to set up a unit to take charge of geotourism within the central and local governments. Fourth, one needs to build the cooperative system of private-public-academic circles among private companies, government, and universities to promote the quality of interpretive program by close connections with related studies of geography and geology. Fifth, the vitalization of geotouriusm can make an enormous contribution to promote the nation? brand value and image by advertizing domestic beautiful landscapes of the nature in addition to creating new job markets. Thus, the financial support in the government level should be made. Sixth, one needs to dig out global resources of geotourism unique to us by developing the stories connecting with local cultures and histories.
