초록

This paper shows some features and characters of spatial consciousness and imagination in Sino-Korean literature, as suggests more topics about the subjects that are expected to be studied, with the future prospect. It also surveys various topics related to space and imagination in literature in general, reminding importance of them. It has proved that spatial consciousness and imagination found in Sino-Korean literature were so liberal and flexible that they had never been restricted by present regional or dominant space, but had always communicated with China, a whole world or universe at that time, transcending time and space. Moreover, they shows diverse features, covering both inside and outside, real and transcendental, mundane and divine spaces. Although Korean literary intelligents in the middle ages are bound to build up their spatial consciousness according to Chinese classics and literature, their works exhibit very characteristic and distinctive features in spatial imagination, which cannot be found in Chinese literature. The following seminar will help us to research and revive traditional space and imagination in Sino-Korean literature, enriching present Korean culture, spirit, and imagination.
