Abstract
This paper explores behaviors of constricted glottis in Korean major phonological phenomena such as first language acquisition, loanword formation, obligatory and optional overapplication and noun compounding. Based on patterns of alternations and wide distributions of constricted glottis, this paper shows that constricted glottis, long regarded as one of the most marked features, has properties of the most unmarked consonantal feature and is more unmarked than coronal, long regarded as the most unmarked feature.
