This article is to analyze English Drama and Dramatic Works sections of Keijo Imperial University Collection held by the SNU Library. The analysis takes as the significant context and aspires, in return, to contribute to the research on Keijo Imperial University and its library, which have recently emerged as one of the focal points of the Japanese colonial period study in Korea. The instantly recognizable trait of the collection in question is the predominant ratio of Shakespeare and the related literatures. The trait can be seen as expressing a variant of what can be called Japanese imperial self-consciousness in the field of literary study. This article concludes with some suggestions on further related researches about the early reception history of Shakespeare in Korea centering around Choe, Jaisou, renowned Shakespearean scholar and translator, who was educated in Keijo Imperial University.
