초록
Nominals and clauses are quite analogous in many respects. One similarity is that just as there are passive clauses, there are passive nominals. Generally speaking, DP-preposing can take place in both clauses and nominals. However, it is not the case that DP-preposing in nominals displays exactly the same pattern as DP-preposing in clauses. DP-preposing is more restricted in nominals than in clauses. Specifically, unaffected Themes and Causers cannot occur in SPEC-D, although they can occur in SPEC-T. This paper shows that this contrast between them originates from the fact that SPEC-D is a theta-position, whereas SPEC-T is not.
