Sincethesolarenergyresourceisthemaininputforsizinganysolarphotovoltaicsystem,itisessentialtoutilize thesolarradiationdataasanapplicationanddevelopmentofsolarenergysystem increase.Itwillbenecessary tounderstandandevaluatetheinsolationdata.TheKoreaInstituteofEnergyResearch(KIER)hasbeguncollecting horizontalglobalinsolationdatasinceMay,1982 at16differentlocationsinKoreaandforthemoredetailed analysis,imagestakenbygeostationarysatellitemaybeusedtoestimatesolarirradiancefluxesatearth'ssurface. Itisbasedontheempiricalcorrelationbetweenasatellitederivedcloudindexandtheirradianceattheground. From theresults,themeasureddatahasbeencollectedat16differentstationsandestimatedusingsatelliteat23differentstationsovertheSouthKoreafrom 1982to2009.TheResultofanalysisshowsthattheannual-average dailyglobalradiationonthehorizontalsurfaceis3.56kWh/m2/dayandestimatedsolarradiationfluxesshow reliable resultsforestimatingtheglobalradiationwithaveragedeviationof-7.27to+3.65% from themeasuredvalues
