초록
Interest in edible insects as an alternative to conventional protein sources has been growing. Of these, Protaetia brevitarsis larvae have been gaining attention due to their nutritional value and bioactive properties. This study investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with persimmon leaf (PL) on the growth performance, nutritional composition, and mineral and fatty acid profiles of P. brevitarsis larvae. Larvae were fed a control diet or diets supplemented with varying concentrations of PL powder to evaluate their growth parameters, rearing period, pupal chamber formation, proximate composition, fatty acid composition, and mineral content. The results demonstrated that PL supplementation significantly enhanced larval weight gain, reduced the rearing period, and accelerated pupal chamber formation. In particular, supplementation with 5% PL markedly increased crude protein and dietary fiber contents, improved fatty acid profiles by elevating palmitic acid and α-linolenic acid levels, and significantly increased essential mineral concentrations, including potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium. These findings suggest that PL powder is an effective functional feed additive for improving the productivity and nutritional quality of P. brevitarsis larvae and may contribute to the development of sustainable insect-based food and feed products.
