In this study, the lubrication performance and dimple effects in journal bearings were studied. Various parameters affecting the bearing lubrication, such as temperature, rotational speed, and eccentricity, were investigated. The obtained results indicated that when the eccentricity and rotational speed increased, and the lubricant temperature decreased, the pressure acting on the bearing in-creased. It is revealed that by introducing the dimple structure on the bearing surface, the lubrication performance is significantly more improved than that of the plain bearing. The dimple structure reduces the contact area between the shaft and bearing while maintaining the resultant force constant, and the volume fraction reduction prevents cavitation erosion inside the bearing.
