이 연구의 목적은 농촌주민의 심리적 복지감과 사회적 자본의 수준, 그리고 사회적 자본이 심리적 복지감에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 도시지역과 비교를 통해 구명하는데 있었다. 준거변수로서 문화․여가, 주거환경, 직업, 건강 등 관심영역별 심리적 복지감을 설정하였고, 설명변수로서 사회적 자본은 가족관계, 사회적 관계, 타인신뢰를 설정하였다. 설명변수의 순수 효과를 파악하기 위해 통제변수로서 성별, 소득수준, 연령, 학력수준, 거주지역(시도), 경제활동 상태, 직업 및 산업분야를 설정하였다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 한국복지패널 1-3차년(2006-2008년) 자료 중 15세 이상 경제활동인구를 표본으로 기술통계, t-검증, Hausman-Taylor 추정법을 활용한 분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 농촌지역의 주건환경에 대한 심리적 복지감은 도시지역에 비해 높은 수준이나, 문화․여가, 직업, 건강 영역은 도시지역보다 낮은 심리적 복지감을 지니고 있다. 둘째, 농촌지역의 경우 타인에 대한 신뢰는 도시지역에 비해 높으나, 가족관계나 사회적 관계와 같은 결속형, 혹은 연결-연계형 네트워크는 도시지역과 차이가 없다. 셋째, 농촌지역과 도시지역 모두 가족관계 및 사회적 관계 등 네트워크 형성이 심리적 복지감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 대체로 도시지역에 비해 농촌지역에서 더 큰 영향력을 가진다. 그러나 타인 신뢰는 도시지역과 달리 농촌지역의 경우 유의미한 효과를 갖지 않는다. 한편, 연구의 결론 및 제한점에 기초하여 정책적 접근과 후속연구에 대해 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine psychological well-being, social capital .and the effect of social capital on psychological well-being of rural residents. Criterion variables were established indicators for satisfaction on the quality of life, including civilized life & leisure, residential environment, job, and health. In addition, family relationship, social network, and trust were selected for social capital as predictor variables. KoWePS(Korea Welfare Panel Study) data from 2006 to 2008 were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and Hausman-Taylor estimation. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. First, psychological well-being for residential environment in rural was higher level than urban, but the rest of psychological well-being were lower level. Second, rural residents had more trust than urban residents, but family and social relationship were not significantly different between rural and urban residents. Third, family and social relationship positively affected psychological well-being in both rural and urban residents and there were mostly higher effect size in rural than urban. However, the trust had no significant effect on psychological well-being in rural. Based on the conclusion and limitation of this study, some political approach and future research were recommended.
