Abstract

Impact of participationg in insturctinal resources evaluationprogram on teacher efficacyOh, Eun-Soon* and Kim, Hyun-Suk**Korea Institute of Curriculum & Evaluation*, Sungkyunkwan University**Teacher efficacy, that is a teacher’s belief in his/her ability to execute appropriate teacherbehaviors to positively effect student outcomes, is an essential aspect of teaching. The purposeof this study was to determine if there were differences in attitudes about teacher efficacybetween prior to exposure to an instructional resources evaluation program and after theimplementation of the program. This study also examined the relationships between 2demensions of teacher efficacy, general and personal teaching efficacy, and methods forevaluating instructional resources and such demographic variables as gender, age, years ofteaching experience, grade level, and location of school.The population for this study consisted of 69 elementary and secondary teachers whoparticiated in “Instructional resources evaluation program at KICE(Korea Institute of Curriculum& Evaluation) whcih was implemented between August in 2002 and Februay in 2003. Theteachers evaluated instructional materials with teachers’ intuition and rubrics for evaluation.Questionnaires to assess teacher efficacy were emailed to the 69 teachers. 48 out of 69questionnaires were returned.The results of the study show that teachers participting in the program perceived theirinvolvement as having a positive effect on their teacher efficacy including general and personalteaching efficacy.
