과학 교사의 수업 전문성 신장을 위한 지원 방안 및 수석교사 제도에 대한 연구

본 연구에서는 문헌 연구, 설문 조사, 수업관찰 및 교사 면담 등을 통하여 과학 교사의 수업 전문성 성장과 발달을 위한 효과적인 지원방안을 살펴보았다. 또한 수업을 잘하는 ‘우수 수업 교사’에 대한 보상의 방편으로써 수석교사 제도를 고찰하였다. 교사의 수업 전문성 발달을 위해 수업평가가 필요하다고 주장하는 현장 교사들은 교사의 수업 전문성 발달을 위해서는 여유 시간의 확보, 국가 차원에서 교수학습 자료에 대한 데이터베이스 구축, 수업공개의 문화 조성, 교사들의 네트워크 형성 및 의사소통 공간과 매체 마련, 멘토멘티 제도, 자생적인 교과교육연구모임의 활성화와 지원 등과 같은 제도적인 지원이 필요하다고 주장하였다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 교사들의 수업 전문성 발달을 위한 제도적인 측면의 지원 방안을 적극적으로 모색해야 할 것이다. 나아가 교사들의 지식과 기술에 대한 투자와 지원이 선행된 다음에, 교사의 수행활동에 대한 책무성을 물어야 할 것이다. 본 연구결과가 과학 교사의 수업 전문성 개발에 주는 시사점도 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study investigated effective support plans for science teachers’ professional growth and development using literature review, survey, classroom observation and teacher interviews. We also investigated a master teacher system as compensation for exemplary teachers. The participating teachers contended teaching evaluation is necessary to ensure in-service teachers' professional development. They also argued such systematic support as securing spare time for teaching preparation, constructing database of instructional materials, forming an open-class culture, building a network of teachers for their communication, implementing the mentoring program, and supporting teachers' subject-centered meetings is necessary for teachers' professional development in teaching. Based on the results, we should actively search for ways to support teachers' professional development in our system. We should invest in teachers' professional knowledge and skills before asking teachers' responsibility. Implications for science teachers' professional development are also suggested.
