초록

본 논문은 2000년에서 2006년까지 국제무역이 제조업 고용에 미친 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 자료는 광업제조업통계조사, 산업연관표, 무역통계를 연계하였고 분석방법은 시스템 일반화적률법을 사용하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 수입침투가 제조업 고용증가에 유의하게 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 이는 수입증가로 생산의 효율성이 증가하고 이로 인해 생산을 확대시키면서 고용을 증가한 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 둘째, 해외아웃소싱은 계수가 양(+)이었지만 유의하지 않았다. 이는 산업별 해외아웃소싱이 국내 제조업의 고용을 의미 있는 정도로 늘리지는 않았지만 고용감소에는 영향을 미치지 않았음을 의미한다. 셋째, 수출은 음의 계수를 보였으나 유의하지 않았다. 넷째, 생산직 근로자의 경우는 수입침투율과 아웃소싱이 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였으나 각각 양과 음의 계수를 보였다. 이는 생산직 근로자의 경우 아웃소싱이 유의한 수준은 아니지만 고용에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤을 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 다섯째, 사무직 근로자의 경우 수입침투 증가가 고용증가에 유의하게 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 해외아웃소싱의 영향은 유의하지 않았지만 생산직과 반대로 양의 계수를 보였다.

Abstract

This paper empirically analyzes the effects of imports on the employment in manufacturing in Korea from 2000 to 2006. We employed the System GMM with data obtained from the Survey of Mining and Manufacturing, Input-Output Table and SITC trade statistics. Our findings are as follows. First, import penetration ratio had a significant positive impact on the manufacturing employment. Second, global outsourcing had insignificantly positive impacts on employment. Third, export to production ratio had a negative but insignificant impact on the employment. Fourth, for the production workers outsourcing had a negative but insignificant impacts on the employment. Fifth, for the non-production workers import penetration ratio had significantly positive impacts on the employment and the effects of outsourcing were insignificantly negative.
