초록

Early physical aggression (EPA) is an important marker of the future failure in psychological and social success. Interventions could potentially decrease EPA given a clearer understanding of the relative importance of ante-, peri- and post-natal factors. A total of 472 children were followed from 5 to 60 months of age to assess child physical aggression development. Mothers were interviewed three times, when their child was 5, 17, and 60 months old. Logistic regression was used to assess the degree to which EPA could be predicted from characteristics of the child, his or her family, and the environment. The strongest predictors for EPA were mother age at birth of the first child and mother's antisocial behaviour symptom before pregnant, showing a 12-time risk. In addition, gender of the child, coercive parenting, and smoking during pregnancy predicted EPA whereas chid temperament and SES were not predictive. Early high physical aggression can be predicted at age 5 months by ante-, peri- and post-natal predictors. Young children with risk factors should be followed more closely by clinicians and educators and could be referred to existing community early intervention programs.
