Abstract

Rock music originated in the United States, especially famous singer used popularity and popularity to develop rock music into the mainstream of popular music. The album cover design of rock music is not only a means of publicity, but also a medium through which the artistic value and aesthetic charm of works of art can be felt among the public. The first time consumers encounter a music album is the album's cover design, so the messaging function is an important medium. The purpose of the research is to analyze the case of rock music album cover design, understand the visual elements, expression methods and characteristics, and propose effective rock music album cover design directions in the future. The scope of research is limited to Grammy Award-winning rock music album covers, 10 album covers of 8 representative bands in the last 10 years. The research method mainly includes two parts. First, compare and analyze the design features of 10 album covers that put forward rock music album cover examples. Second, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 83 people in South Korea and China, using a comparative analysis method of 5 adjective words extracted from the design of rock music album covers. The research results show that the visual language of album cover design can convey music information, so the ability to design information is very important. In addition, in the design of album covers, the artistry that satisfies consumers' aesthetic stimulation is particularly important. In the future, effective rock music cover design needs to convey the concept of music information and a strategy that perfectly combines independent personality and rich artistry.
