장애청소년을 양육하는 어머니의 훈육 관련 경험과 인식에 관한 질적 연구: 심각한 문제행동을 보이는 장애청소년의 부모를 위한 행동지원 지침서 개발의 기초 연구

본 연구에서는 서울과 경기 지역에 거주하는 장애청소년의 어머니 10명을 대상으로 개별 심층 면담을 실시하고 이를 분석하여 자녀의 적절한 행동을 촉진하고 부적절한 행동에 대처하는 것과 관련된 어머니들의 훈육 경험과 그 과정에서 갖게 된 인식을 알아보았다. 면담 자료에 대한 질적 분석 결과, 훈육에 영향을 미치는 가정 내 여건, 훈육 방식과 훈육 철학의 변화, 훈육의 실제, 훈육 관련 지원요구의 4가지 대주제와 그에 따른 12개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 연구 결과의 시사점으로 장애청소년 아버지 지원의 필요성, 훈육기술뿐 아니라 철학과 태도를 다루는 부모교육의 중요성, 양육자들 간 훈육정보와 정서적 지지를 교류할 기회 제공의 필요성, 청소년기 장애학생의 특징에 맞는 가족지원 방안의 모색 등에 관해 논의하였다. 본 연구는 청소년기의 장애 자녀를 양육하는 어머니들의 경험과 인식을 바탕으로 가정 내 장애청소년 훈육의 어려움과 지원 요구를 고찰하고 장애청소년 어머니들의 훈육 철학과 훈육 방식이 시행착오와 자기성찰을 포함한 다양한 경로를 통해 정립되어가는 과정을 제시함으로써 행동지원과 관련된 장애청소년 부모 교육의 기초자료를 제공했다는 데 그 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the discipline practices and support needs for adolescents with disabilities and find out ways to support their mothers regarding behavior support within families by examining the experiences and perceptions of those mothers. In-depth individual interviews were conducted with ten mothers of adolescents with developmental disabilities living in Seoul City and Kyunggi-do regarding their experiences and perceptions regarding behavior of their children. Qualitative analyses revealed 4 themes, including family conditions affecting discipline, evolution of mothers’ discipline pattern and philosophy, discipline practices, and support needs related to discipline, and their subsequent subthemes. Finally, the implications of the study for parent support are discussed and the limitations of the study are described. This study is significant in that it provided foundational knowledge for establishing parent education programs for mothers of adolescents with disabilities regarding behavior by analyzing their difficulties and support needs and presenting the transformation process of discipline philosophy and styles.
